A professional couple in McLean, VA seeks an experienced housekeeper to oversee the care, and hospitality of their primary residence. The home is formal in style, and the principals value discretion, warmth, and reliability. The ideal candidate will bring a hands-on, service-oriented approach, comfortable balancing housekeeping, cooking, and pet support, with a shared focus on maintaining a well-run, inviting household.
Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed housekeeping and daily cleaning of all household areas
- Manage light laundry, ironing, and linen rotation
- Prepare dinner 2-3x/week & ability to follow a New York Times recipe.
- Set and clear table for family meals; assist with occasional entertaining
- Taking out trash as needed
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness, appliances, and pantry organization
- Watering indoor and outdoor potted plants, washing windows, waxing and buffing floors.
- Polishing fixtures as needed
- Provide exceptional care for the couple’s 20-lb dog, ensuring his feeding routine and general supervision while he enjoys roaming the property’s grounds. One small, well-mannered dog resides in the home full-time, with one or two dogs occasionally visiting during the workweek (belonging to their adult child who lives nearby)
- Keep pool house clean and patio upkeep; clean outdoor furniture areas
- Ensure security procedures are followed (locking up, alarms) when needed
- The home’s interiors feature fine furnishings, artwork, and delicate finishes that require gentle care and experience in handling valuable items.
Ideal Candidates:
- Minimum 5 years of executive housekeeping experience in a private residence
- Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
- Experienced in providing seamless, discreet service within a private home setting.
- Confident with cooking and hospitality standards
