Child-Friendly Housekeeper / Family Assistant — Williamsburg, Brooklyn

A warm and busy family in Williamsburg, Brooklyn is seeking an experienced, child-friendly Housekeeper/Family Assistant to help maintain a well-organized, happy home and provide part-time support with their 2.5-year-old son. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of hands-on household management and occasional childcare, and who takes pride in creating an organized, smooth-running household environment.

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday: 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM

  • Wednesdays & Fridays: Extended “date nights” until 10:30 PM

  • (Optional) Saturday morning: 4–8 hours (to reach up to 38–40 hours per week)

Role Overview

This position is approximately 65–70% household support and 30–35% childcare. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and nurturing — someone who can balance daily housekeeping tasks with being a warm and dependable presence for a young child.

Key Responsibilities

Household Tasks

  • Daily kitchen maintenance: load/unload dishwasher, wipe counters, and clean under the dining table.

  • Hand-wash any non-dishwasher-safe items (special cookware, baby trays, etc.).

  • Tidy and organize all common areas and the child’s room.

  • Maintain refrigerator cleanliness: label items, monitor expiration dates, and discard old food.

  • Manage household and baby laundry: wash, dry, fold, and organize.

  • Assist with meal planning and grocery shopping — ensuring balanced dinners with protein, carb, and vegetable options for the week.

  • Stock fresh snacks, milk, and household essentials.

  • Prep healthy snacks for the child (fruit, cheese, etc.) to minimize processed foods.

  • Pre-fill milk bottles and organize the child’s daily items.

  • Maintain the organization of toys, clothes, and school items.

  • Prepare the child’s school bag each evening.

  • Clean up after dinner, bath, and playtime each night.

Childcare Tasks

  • Support parents with after-school and evening routines as needed.

  • Date nights (2x per week):

    • Prepare and serve dinner for the child.

    • Assist with bath, bottle, and bedtime routine.

  • Occasional weekday support:

    • Engage in light playtime (indoors or outdoors).

    • Supervise the child during short periods when parents have calls or are busy.

  • (If working Saturdays):

    • Morning playtime, snack/lunch prep, and assist with nap routine.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a housekeeper, family assistant, or nanny/housekeeper hybrid.

  • Comfortable and engaging with young children.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to multitask and take initiative.

  • Trustworthy, reliable, and proactive communicator.

  • Comfortable with light cooking and meal prep.

Compensation

  • Hourly Rate: Competitive, depending on experience and schedule (30–40 hours per week).
