About the Family

A warm, busy professional family on the Upper West Side is seeking a long-term, experienced nanny to provide attentive care and structure for their two young children. Both parents have demanding work schedules and rely heavily on their caregiver for consistency, communication, and household coordination.

Children: Two boys, ages 4.5 and 1.5
Pets: None in the home

The family values a calm presence, strong boundaries, and someone who can maintain an organized flow throughout the day. Their previous nanny was with them for five years, and they hope to find another stable, long-term match.

Responsibilities

  • Provide warm, engaged, developmentally focused childcare for both children throughout the day.

  • Manage morning routines: wake the children, help them get dressed, prepare breakfast, and finalize lunch for the older child.

  • Walk the older child to school each morning (15-minute walk; attendance 8:45–9:00am). Bring the younger child along for drop-off.

  • Plan and coordinate age-appropriate activities for the toddler around the UWS, including developmental classes, playdates, and community outings.

  • Oversee lunch and a consistent daily nap for the toddler (1.5–2 hours), followed by bottle and playtime before school pickup.

  • Pick up the older child after school at 4:00pm (Fridays at 1:00pm).

  • Prepare balanced, child-friendly dinners daily. (The family is open to the nanny preparing simple family meals if desired.)

  • Assist with evening routines around 5:00–5:15pm, including baths, reading, and settling the children as parents arrive home.

  • Maintain the general order of the home as it relates to the children: tidying play areas, organizing child items, and supporting daily structure.

  • Communicate clearly and promptly with parents throughout the day via text/Apple Watch.

  • Overnights while parents are traveling (1–3 family trips per year) and spend summers with them in the Hamptons

Ideal Candidate & Personality

The ideal candidate is flexible, calm, and reliable, with a warm demeanor and a go-with-the-flow approach. This family values someone who:

  • Maintains strong boundaries and daily structure for the children.

  • Is highly engaged and present—not on their phone or distracted while supervising.

  • Shows initiative in planning activities, classes, and community experiences.

  • Supports two busy working parents by keeping routines smooth and organized.

  • Is comfortable providing additional coverage when parents travel.

  • Someone who allows schedule flexibility.

Someone who takes pride in creating a safe, nurturing environment and fits seamlessly into the household without taking up “too much space” will be a great fit.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5 years of private nanny experience with toddlers and preschool-age children

  • Excellent references

  • CPR/First Aid certified or willing to obtain

  • Familiarity with the Upper West Side and local children’s activities

  • Strong communication skills and responsiveness throughout the day

  • Willingness to travel and spend summers in the Hamptons

  • Ability to prepare healthy, balanced meals for children

Additional Notes

The family prioritizes understanding a candidate’s reason for leaving their current position and seeks someone committed to a long-term role where they can become a trusted partner in their children’s lives.
