A warm, busy, and welcoming family in Franklin Lakes, NJ is seeking a steady, routine-oriented Housekeeper to support their home. The household includes two young children (approximately 1 and 2 years old) and two friendly French Bulldogs. Both parents work from home full-time and operate multiple businesses, resulting in a lively home environment with staff and visitors regularly present.
They value excellent communication, honesty, calm energy, and someone who can greet them warmly but then transition quickly into work. The family loves hosting gatherings and parties, and while event assistance is not required, someone who enjoys helping with occasional party prep or cleanup would be a welcomed bonus.
Position Summary
The Housekeeper will maintain the cleanliness, organization, and daily functioning of the home. Laundry is a significant part of the role, along with general cleaning, organizing, and resetting key areas. No childcare is required. The ideal candidate is proactive, adaptable, calm, and comfortable working in a household with young children and dogs.
Key Responsibilities
General Household Cleaning & Maintenance
- Perform daily cleaning of all common areas, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and living spaces.
- Vacuum, sweep, and mop all floors regularly.
- Dust surfaces, furniture, décor, shelving, and light fixtures.
- Clean and disinfect all bathrooms including toilets, sinks, showers, and tubs.
- Wash dishes, empty/load the dishwasher, and maintain a clean, organized kitchen.
- Take out garbage and recycling and replace liners as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness of entryways, mudroom, and other high-traffic areas.
Laundry & Clothing Care
- Wash, dry, fold, and put away laundry for the entire family (2 adults, 2 small children).
- Strip and remake beds weekly (or more frequently as needed).
- Wash, dry, and organize towels, bedding, and linens.
- Handle delicate and special-care garments appropriately.
- Keep the laundry room clean, stocked, and well-organized at all times.
Organization & Household Tidying
- Tidy and organize children’s play areas and toys daily.
- Maintain organization in closets, drawers, cabinets, and storage areas.
- Reset all main living spaces to ensure the home remains clean, orderly, and presentable.
- Assist with decluttering and help maintain organizational systems that keep the household running smoothly.
Family & Home Support
- Identify and report low supplies, household needs, or items requiring repair or replacement.
- Maintain discretion, reliability, and respect for the family’s privacy.
- Interact briefly with the family upon arrival—friendly but efficient—before beginning work.
- Be honest and communicative: if anything breaks or a mistake occurs, notify the family immediately.
- Work comfortably in a home where parents work remotely and guests or staff come and go.
- Be comfortable around dogs; the family is happy to secure them during your shift if preferred.

- Follow a consistent cleaning routine while adapting to day-to-day needs.
- Maintain a high standard of detail in all cleaning, organizing, and laundry tasks.

Requirements
- Prior experience in professional housekeeping, preferably in private homes

- CPR/First Aid preferred but not required
