Private Family in Tenafly, New Jersey Seeking a Full-Time Live-In Nanny
Position: Full-Time Live-In Nanny
Schedule: Monday–Friday with flexibility to work a 6th day (Saturday or Sunday); one weekend day off guaranteed
Hours: Split schedule – mornings (7:00/8:00 AM–8:30 AM) and afternoons/evenings (3:00 PM–7:00/8:00 PM); full-day coverage on Fridays (children do not have school) (Paying for 40 hours guaranteed)
Salary: $35–$42 per hour, depending on experience; additional compensation provided for travel
Benefits: 2 weeks paid time off (PTO)

About the Family
A warm, active, and welcoming private family based in Tenafly, NJ is seeking a dedicated and engaging full-time live-in nanny to join their household long-term. The family values positivity, energy, and a genuine love for working with children.
Children: Two children, ages 7 and 14
Pets: None
Household: Private family home; nanny will have a private suite and car provided
The family maintains an active lifestyle and encourages outdoor play, sports, swimming, and enriching activities such as museum outings. They are a Jewish family; familiarity with Jewish traditions is a plus but not required.
Responsibilities
- Manage morning routine: prepare children for school, including breakfast and lunchboxes
- School drop-off and pick-up (car provided)
- Coordinate and drive children to after-school activities
- Engage children in active, educational, and fun activities (sports, swimming, outings, etc.)
- Prepare dinner and assist with evening routines, including bedtime (7:00PM)
- Provide full-day care on Fridays (no school)
- Grocery shopping and household errands related to the children
- Maintain organization of children’s belongings and spaces
- Travel with the family as needed (3 domestic trips/year)
Ideal Candidate & Personality
The ideal candidate is energetic, bubbly, and genuinely passionate about working with children. They should be highly engaging, proactive, and enjoy being active with the kids and family. A warm, positive personality and a team-player mindset are essential.
This role is best suited for someone seeking a long-term commitment who will become an integral part of the household. Flexibility is key, especially regarding weekend work and travel.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in a private home as a nanny or similar role
- Strong driving skills and clean driving record (car provided)
- Comfortable with a split schedule and flexible hours
- Willingness to travel domestically (approximately 3 times per year, one week at a time; additional compensation provided)
- Ability to travel to Miami as needed
- Legal to work in the United States
- Excellent references
- Experience with Jewish families or traditions is a plus, but not required
