Position: Full-Time Live-In Housekeeper/Caretaker
Schedule: Flexible schedule; must be available when family is in residence (holidays, summer visits, and occasional weekends)
Salary: $60,000 – $65,000 annually; health insurance after trial period; PTO

About the Family
A private family based in New York is seeking a dedicated and trustworthy Housekeeper/Caretaker to oversee their 11-acre property in La Plume, PA. The family uses the home seasonally, including holidays and summer stays. The property will be undergoing renovations, and they are looking for someone to serve as their on-site presence—ensuring everything runs smoothly in their absence and that the home is fully prepared for their visits.
You will live in a separate apartment on the property, providing privacy while being readily available as needed. This can also be a live-out position if you live locally.
Responsibilities
Property Care & Housekeeping
- Perform detailed, deep cleaning of the apartment initially, with responsibilities expanding to the main house once renovations are complete
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all living spaces
- Ensure the home is guest-ready at all times for family arrivals
- Laundry, linens, and overall household upkeep
Caretaker Duties
- Act as the “eyes and ears” for the family during ongoing renovations (no project management required)
- Monitor property condition and report any issues promptly
- Accept and oversee deliveries (furniture, packages, etc.)
- Ensure the property remains secure and well-maintained year-round
Hospitality & Household Support
- Prepare the home in advance of the family’s arrival (stocking basics, light prep, etc.)
- Provide light assistance in the kitchen when the family is in residence
- Create a warm, welcoming, and well-run environment during visits
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a private home as a housekeeper, caretaker, or similar role
- Highly trustworthy, discreet, and reliable
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive mindset
- Comfortable living on-site in a rural setting
- Excellent communication skills; able to report updates clearly and consistently
- Hospitality-minded with a helpful, can-do attitude
- Able to work independently and take initiative
