A family looking to hire a reliable and experienced housekeeper to oversee two residences in Bryn Mawr and Malvern. Pa. The ideal candidate will be meticulous , discreet, and have excellent organizational and communication skills. Once oriented to the home, the ability to establish a routine while also identifying priorities and adapting to manage them is desired. You will be encouraged to note maintenance or cleaning issues that arise and call them to our attention for resolution or scheduling of service calls.
Responsibilities:
-Clean and maintain both homes to a high standard, including but not limited to vacuuming, sweeping, mopping hardwood floors, dusting, and cleaning mirrors, windows, and other surfaces
-Daily laundry such as washing, drying, folding, and ironing of clothes and bath towels. Ability to care for delicate fabrics and fine clothing a must. High end linens and formalware are delivered/picked up from local dry cleaner.
-Maintain and care for fine china, antiques, and glassware. Expertise in cleaning and polishing silver is essential.
-Undertake gentle cleaning and handling of art, antiques, and collectibles , as instructed.
-Make beds and change linens regularly
-Clean and sanitize baths including scrubbing toilets, shower, sinks, and bathtubs.
-Clean kitchen appliances, counters, cabinets, run dishwasher, and put away items.
Handwashing of more delicate items occasionally.
-Keep inventory of household supplies and cleaning products, and replenish as needed.
-Organize closets, pantries, and storage areas. Arrange things in a tidy manner consistent with the way things are found or as instructed.
-Empty trash and ensure proper disposal of trash and recycling.
-Accomodate special cleaning requests as communicated by the homeowner. Be comfortable asking questions if unsure of how to do something.
-Ensure security and confidentiality for the house when owner not present. This includes keeping doors locked , utilizing the alarm system, screening people who come to the door, and supervising service calls as needed during working hours.
-Care of pets ( feeding and walking) and watering of house plants as needed.
-Periodic deep cleaning as needed and instructed
-Occasionally run errands nearby such as UPS drop off, pharmacy, etc.
Position requirements:
-Proven experience as a housekeeper, preferably in a private household
-Strong knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment
-Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
-Ability to work independently and establish a routine
-Ability to communicate well and follow instructions
-Offer flexibility to accomodate schedule changes or additional tasks now and then.
-Must have car or reliable transportation to travel to homes
-Have respect for privacy and confidentiality in both homes
-Must pass background check, drug testing, and provide references.
Benefits:
-$40 per hour DOE
